Napa Valley Showhouse Part I

What happens when one winery and a team of designers join forces? The 2nd annual Napa Valley Showhouse, of course. Traditional Home recruited some of the nation's most exceptional talent to transform Peter Mondavi Jr.'s former private residence into a design showcase that will benefit the Napa Valley Film Festival. The designers drew inspiration from the rustic, wine-country aesthetic of the Napa Valley and created a harmonious juxtaposition of nature and luxury in this beautiful estate.

Vintage movie reels mounted on plate racks adorned the walls in tribute to the Film Festival and a charming lion's head resting in a gold frame set a theatrical tone to the room. I was particularly drawn to the colorful chandelier and bold azure centerpiece sitting on an old milling wheel ingeniously re-purposed as the dining room table.

The kitchen was an aesthetic masterpiece: balanced, timeless and a perfect fusion of simplicity and elegance. There was a ubiquitous warmth within the cool color scheme and dazzling wall tile which paired well with the silver appliances. Among my favorite features were the majestic floral arrangements and, of course, the refrigerated wine dispenser.

Masculine, luxurious and full of character, the family room by the local Napa designer was a favorite of mine. The rustic man-cave featured cowhide pillows, old telephone poles re-purposed as lamp bases and a harmonious integration of copper and wood elements. The coffee table was fabricated from a large piece of oak slab salvaged from a winery in Calistoga.

A special thank you to Traditional Magazine and Blitzer&Co for collaborating with me on this. The Showhouse is open until November 17th so if you happen to be in Napa, be sure to swing by for a glass of wine and a feast for the eyes.
